Video journey: Al-Najd in Gaza
Take a video journey through the work of MCC partner Al-Najd Developmental Forum in Gaza over the past year.

This September, as MCC celebrates Rifqa Al-Hamalawi of Gaza, the winner of the 2025 Michael J. Sharp Global Peacemaker Award, we recognize her dedication and persistence in leading MCC partner Al-Najd Developmental Forum and serving neighbors amid devastation.
And we invite you into the courageous work of Al-Hamalawi and her team.
To honor the compassion that they show to their neighbors every day, join us on a short video journey through the work of staff at MCC partner Al-Najd in Gaza over the past year. We at MCC give thanks for the talents of Mahmoud Miqdad, a videographer and photographer from Gaza who has been documenting the work of Al-Najd for MCC.
In under 15 minutes of video footage, you’ll hear Al-Hamalawi’s reflections on a life dedicated to service and see the work she and her team are risking their lives to carry out in Gaza.
Quote
“Our message is: look at us with humanity,” Al-Hamalawi shares. “We are human beings. It is our right to live, just like the rest of the world.”
As you follow Al-Hamalawi’s journey, will you hold close the words she shares?

What will you do with the stories you have heard here?
You can:
- Support the work of Al-Hamalawi and her team to feed and comfort families across Gaza.
- Pray for families across Gaza (hear a prayer over a shipment of MCC supplies to Gaza).
- And follow the invitation that she stresses above all others: Speak out for a lasting end to the devastation she and her community are experiencing. Canada | U.S.
“What is more important than food or any kind of aid is to stop the war," Rifqa Al-Hamalawi says. "It is very important to put a pressure on Israel to stop the war so that people can go back to their lives. When the war stops everything could be solved, everything could be resolved and rebuilt.”
