Our application process
1. Church/organization submits their proposal
(March: week one)
The partnering church or organization must submit their proposal online by the deadline. The church/organization should already have a young adult in mind for the Summer Service project. It is their responsibility to conduct interviews and select the participant for the proposed project. After the partnering church or organization submits the proposal, MCC will send the application link to the email address you provide for your Summer Service participant.
For more resources and to learn how to develop and write a successful proposal, visit our frequently asked questions page.
2. Summer Service participant completes and submits their application
(March: week two)
The Summer Service participant completes and submits the application using the link MCC shares by email to the address that the church/organization provided in their proposal. To be considered, participants must submit their applications by the deadline above.
3. Selection and follow-up discussion (March 2026)
The selection committee will review submitted proposals and applications. Proposals and applications are evaluated according to factors such as their potential for leadership development, community or church impact, thoroughness, clarity and proper supervision. We will conduct follow-up discussions, if needed, to finalize any details of the program or answer any questions. Once the selection committee makes a decision to accept or deny an application and proposal, we will notify the applicants by email.
4. Orientations (April to June)
For those accepted to the program, orientations begin in May:
Supervisor Orientation (2nd week of May): All Summer Service supervisors must participate in a two-hour online orientation. We’ll email Zoom details a week before the orientation date and time.
Participant Orientation (June): Our Leadership Conference is provided for all Summer Service participants during the first week of June.
5. Summer Service begins! (June to August)
