Designated giving (sometimes referred to as “restricted giving”) lets you direct your donation to a specific MCC initiative, disaster response, or appeal. Select the designation(s) you'd prefer to support or contact donor relations for special designations.

MCC will attempt to use your donation as requested. Policy and situations that may dictate the ability to do this include:

  • If donations exceed costs. In this case, MCC will use additional contributions where they are needed the most.
  • Funds must be available for use in accordance with the law, with respect to the policies of MCC, and under conditions designated by the donor.
  • In Canada, designated gifts deemed unusual or of a substantial size must be reviewed and approved in advance by the Gift Acceptance Committee.

Designated gifts (sometimes referred to as “restricted gifts”) are applied to the purpose you select. If donations exceed a program, initiative, country or appeal’s immediate need, MCC reallocates funds to related needs consistent with donor intent and MCC policy.

Large or unusual designated gifts may require written designation agreements.

Standard, applicable credit and debit card processing fees apply.

Yes. MCC issues official receipts according to donor country and gift type. Consult with a legal representative before attempting to make a charitable donation on behalf of a church or charity.

Donors choose whether to receive an immediate receipt via email or at the end of the year by mail. Contact your local provincial MCC office or the MCC U.S. office for other receipt requests.

First, check your email after making your donation or at the end of the year. If you requested your receipt by mail, those will be sent at the end of the calendar year.

If you do this and still cannot find your tax receipt, contact your local provincial MCC office or the MCC U.S. office.

MCC doesn't ask long-term workers to raise their own support. However, the expense of placing people around the world can be significant. A few ways you can support a worker:

  • Making a donation to “Where needed most” is a great way to support these types of costs.
  • Give a gift towards the specific country program that the worker is supporting.

Edit allows you to split your donation among multiple designations.

To remove an item from your card, click the small “remove” icon next to the designation in your cart. If the cart has only one item, removing it will return you to the donation start page.

If you can’t remove an item, submit a webform with your cart details.
