Building Communities of Peace with friends in Colombia

Target dates: July 15 – 23, 2021 (These could be flexible for a group experience)

MCC is excited to offer a Peace Camp in partnership with Mennonite Mission Network and their Youth Venture (YV) program. Join us for an immersive and shared experience of discovering how Christ-followers around the globe are actively "building communities of peace" and living in to and out of God's call to be agents of reconciliation. We will survey the contexts of Colombia and the United States, as youth participants in both countries come together (virtually) to collaboratively explore that which makes for peace in their own, respective contexts. U.S. participants will gather at Amigo Center in Sturgis, MI, and take trips to local communities for cultural learning experiences. Colombian youth participants are hoping to have a parallel experience and the two groups will connect virtually throughout the week-long immersive experience. Participants in both countries will consider peace and justice efforts in each context, with the ability to interact, discuss, and learn from each other.

If a youth group is interested, we are willing to work with leaders to customize the experience so that it fits your group while also connecting your group with Colombian youth in order to make for a dynamic and informative experience.
