MCC is allocated a limited number of named sponsorship spaces each year by the Canadian government. Named sponsorship is used when you know the refugee(s) you would like to sponsor to come to Canada – these may be family members, friends or loved ones. MCC Manitoba partners with sponsorship groups, ensuring that they are equipped to support refugee newcomers as they settle and integrate into their new Canadian community. We also provide educational resources and advocate for fair legislation.

Your Sponsorship Intake Process Starts Here

Dec. 1-31, 2024

Sign-up for one of three January orientation session dates. Participation in one of these sessions is mandatory.

Jan. 9, 10 & 11, 2025

Orientation will be held at MCC Manitoba (100-140 Bannatyne, Winnipeg) and will cover key information about the sponsorship process. The session is approximately 2 hours with time for questions. After attending, you will receive the Expression of Interest (EOI) form.

Jan. 31, 2025

Submit your completed EOI form by Jan. 31. This step initiates MCC’s review of your application for formal sponsorship through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

February 2025

MCC’s Migration and Resettlement staff will review applications and make selections for the upcoming year. Due to high demand, MCC cannot guarantee every applicant a spot.

End of March 2025

By the end of March, MCC will notify all applicants about their application status. If selected, you will receive a detailed list of next steps to begin preparing your IRCC application.
