After 29 years of service with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), including 18 years as Executive Director for MCC British Columbia (MCC BC), Wayne Bremner has announced his plans to retire in September 2026. Wayne is an active member of Highland Community Church in Abbotsford, BC, a Mennonite Brethren church, where he has been engaged in local ministry and community work.

Wayne began his journey with MCC in 1996 and has provided steady leadership through seasons of growth, change and renewed focus on MCC’s mission: sharing God’s love and compassion through relief, development and peace.

Under Wayne’s leadership, MCC BC has expanded its work in refugee sponsorship, homelessness prevention, Indigenous relations and global partnerships — all grounded in strong relationships with churches, volunteers and donors across the province.

“On behalf of the Board, we express our heartfelt appreciation to Wayne for his years of service and dedication to MCC,” says Peter Wolfe, MCC BC Board Chair. “Wayne’s passion for building deep relationships between MCC BC and local Anabaptist congregations has strengthened our shared calling to be a city on the hill – shining light and hope in some of the hardest places around the world. He has guided this organization with wisdom and grace and we are deeply grateful for the strong foundation that has been built.”
