From September 27 to October 5, MCC’s Representative for Rwanda and Burundi, Mulanda Jimmy Juma, will be touring Alberta for a series of speaking engagements. Mulanda will share his personal experiences both as a refugee beneficiary of MCC support and as an MCC service worker, collaborating with churches and other partners as they support uprooted people.
Mulanda Jimmy Juma (PhD), is from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is married to Dina and have 5 children, whom they call the SUPREME (Suzanne, Prince, Eto, Munga and Eca). He is currently the MCC Representative for Rwanda and Burundi. Prior to this, he first served as Southern Africa Peace Coordinator for MCC, and later as MCC Representative for Congo (DRC) and Angola.
Mulanda has actively participated in mediation in many armed conflicts in Africa and beyond, which informed his recent book published in French, “The Water of the Lake Was Red: A Congolese Peacebuilder in the Heart of Wars.” In a world faced with major challenges of conflict and displacement, we can all learn from Mulanda’s wealth of experience.
