Central States

MCC works to dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, and to support the strength and genius of Indigenous peoples as they address injustices past and present. We do this through education resources and through the participatory learning experience, “The Loss of Turtle Island.”

In this experience, participants use blankets to represent the land while they represent distinct Indigenous nations who experience colonization, genocide, broken treaties, forced removal, assimilation and termination. Participants gain a clear and visceral understanding of the spirit of the Doctrine of Discovery.

MCC prisoner care kits help meet the basic needs of those who are incarcerated. Make a difference in your local area by collecting and packing prisoner care kit items that help restore hope, dignity and mental health to these individuals.

Prisoner care kit contents for MEN (new items only):

• 1 pair of white underwear (briefs)*
• 1 bottle of lotion (maximum 2 oz.)
• 1 bar of soap (minimum 4 oz.)
• 1 tube of toothpaste (minimum 6 oz.)
• 1 deodorant (minimum 2.25 oz.)
• 1 pair of white crew socks*
• 1 white crewneck undershirt*

*Note: Clothing items are accepted in two sizes: men's large and men's extra large. Please choose one of these sizes and purchase underwear, socks and undershirt in the same size.​

Completed kits can be dropped off or sent to MCC Central States, PO Box 235, 121 E. 30th, North Newton, KS 67117.
 

Returning citizen care kit contents for MEN (new items only):

• 3 pairs of underwear (boxer briefs preferred)*
• 1 bottle of lotion (minimum 12 oz.)
• 1 bottle of shampoo (minimum 12 oz.)
• 1 large bar of soap (minimum 4 oz.)
• 1 tube of toothpaste (minimum 6 oz.)
• 1 toothbrush in package
• 1 deodorant (minimum 2.25 oz.)
• 3 pairs of crew socks*
• 3 crewneck t-shirts (any color)*
• 1 disposable razor
• 1 adult-sized new backpack

*Note: Clothing items are accepted in the following men's sizes: L, XL, 2XL and 3XL. Please choose one of these sizes and purchase underwear, socks and t-shirts in the same size.

At MCC, young adults are an incredible source of inspiration, challenge and hope. Young adults aged 18-30 can attend a Peace camp, be a Summer Service participant in their local community, or serve with SALT in an international setting for one year. MCC offers service opportunities for all ages in
many locations.
