Hold Canada’s Weapons Trade Accountable
Bill C-233 Advocacy Actions
Weapons made in Canada are being used in conflicts around the world, including in Gaza, Sudan, and Haiti. As Canadians, we are concerned about the harm these weapons cause to our global neighbours.
We believe that Canada can show our love to the world by ensuring that Canadian weapons manufacturers cannot use corporate loopholes to harm people. If passed, Bill C-233, The No More Loopholes Act, will end unaccountable weapons exports.
Join us in asking your MP and the Canadian Government to pass this Bill and value human lives over profit. On this page you can send a physical postcard, call your MP, or send an email.

Hello, my name is ____ and I am a resident of ____[riding/town]
I am calling to voice my concern about Canada’s role in producing and sending weapons to places where they are used to violate rights and harm civilians.
Canada is failing our responsibilities under the Arms Trade Treaty by allowing weapons and weapons parts to go to the US without proper oversight.
As your constituent, I ask that you vote YES to Bill C-233, the No More Loopholes Act.
Thank you.

Canada is a signatory of a global agreement called The Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). This agreement means that we have a responsibility to make sure that our weapons trade is regulated and accountable, doing everything in our power to keep weapons from the hands of actors violating international humanitarian and human rights law, which may include state governments and militaries, armed groups, and others.
A large loophole exists in Canada’s current regulations under the ATT; we export weapons and weapons parts to the US without following the same accountability processes. This has allowed for example, Canadian made parts, added to F-35s, to be used in bombing Gaza, and Canadian surveillance technology used in recent bombing by the United States of Venezuelan boats in international waters.
Right now, Bill C233, an Act to amend the Export and Import Permits Act is before Parliament. This private member’s bill seeks to close these loopholes and ensure Canada’s legislation upholds Canada’s full responsibilities under the Arms Trade Treaty.
