Peace and Advocacy in Manitoba

We participate in local working groups and coalitions on climate action, facilitating conversations and group activities. One way we engage in this work is through the Our Shared Future experiential activity for students, churches and community groups.

We also collaborate with groups like Mennonite Church Manitoba’s Climate Action Working Group to engage in public policy and generate transformative actions in response to the climate crisis.

MCC’s advocacy work is rooted in the understanding that we are called by God to be a voice with and for the oppressed and marginalized. We base our advocacy on what we hear from partners on the ground.

Today, we’re hearing a lot of concern around the effects of climate change, the oppression of Palestinians, and an increase in forced migration.

Today, we face polarized opinions in so many spheres. But listening with curiosity is a first step to meaningful conversation.

MCC offers workshops and resources on having difficult conversations, and we help facilitate rural-urban dialogues on food, faith, farming and the land through Germinating Conversations, an initiative that brings together growers and eaters for meaningful dialogue.
