MCCM Scholarship Fund Application

  • Student must be either entering or continuing full-time studies (minimum of 18 credit hours per academic year).
  • Students should evidence a history of commitment to service, volunteerism and engagement within their community. 
  • Students must demonstrate how their education and career objectives connect one or more of the following focus areas: relief, development, peace, climate change mitigation/adaptation, restorative justice or reconciliation. 
  • Criteria two (2) and three (3) above are required to be expressed and demonstrated in the scholarship application form and submission of a supporting essay (500-750 words) or short video (2-3 minutes).
  • Two (2) faculty/teacher references which include an honest assessment of the applicant’s skills and interests as they relate to the intent of the scholarship; the relationship between the applicant and the referee; and the referee’s name and address printed on official letterhead).
  • Letters of reference must be sent directly by referees to or sent by mail to Joni Sawatzky, MCC Manitoba Scholarship Fund, 100-140 Bannatyne Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3C5.
  • The scholarships will be awarded in October. All applicants will be notified of their application decision. 
  • Current MCC staff or children of MCC staff who qualify for tuition benefits are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Students who submit an application consent to receiving email and print communications from MCC Manitoba about student opportunities such as, but not limited to: student seminars, events, programs like Serving and Learning Together (SALT) and job, volunteer and practicum opportunities.

References must be submitted on official letterhead. To email the letter, request that your referee attaches it as PDF or Word Doc. To mail the letter, the referee must enclose it in a signed and sealed envelope.
Applicants are requested to submit a 500-750 word essay or a 2-3 minute video addressing how their education and career goals qualify them for a scholarship from MCC Manitoba. Note: Include your name in the file name and on the essay or in the video as well. If you are having trouble submitting the file with this form, please send your submission to with the subject line "Essay submission for MCCM Scholarship Fund".
