How to plan your legacy gift
Thank you for considering a legacy gift to MCC!
MCC staff have many years’ experience helping generous donors align their deeply-held beliefs and priorities with MCC’s work. We‘d be happy to help you explore how a planned gift to MCC can fit in with your life plan!
As you plan your legacy gift, here are some steps to consider:
- Discuss your options: Legacy giving involves important and sometimes complicated decisions. Contact your legal or financial advisor to explore gift options that are right for you. If you do not have a legal or financial advisor, MCC recommends
- In Canada: Abundance Canada (formerly Mennonite Foundation of Canada)
- In the U.S.: Everence Foundation, Mennonite Brethren Foundation or Brethren in Christ Foundation. Your local MCC office can refer you to these or other trusted organizations.
- Explore types of gifts: There are several ways you can plan a gift in your will; you can arrange gifts of cash, life insurance, securities, property and more. Read more about the types of gifts you can give.
- Gift Designation: Is there a particular need or impact you would like your legacy gift to address? Or would you prefer MCC use your gift in a more general way to support our work where it is needed most? We can help to ensure your values are met.
Update or create your will: Once you’ve decided on your gift, be sure to update your will to reflect it. When describing your gift, you'll need legal information to clearly identify MCC, including the charitable registration number, legal address and legal contact.
We also encourage you to discuss your intentions with your family.
- Share your story: Sharing why you’ve chosen to make this gift is another way you can pass on your values and beliefs to future generations. Please share with us too. We'd love to hear why you or your loved ones have blessed MCC with a legacy gift!

"It came as a pleasant surprise when our financial advisor suggested that we could leave a legacy for MCC and save our children some taxes on our passing."
