A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Lori Banfield was born in the late 80's to a family of atmosphere- changers steeped in the restorative work of the Spirit. Banfield is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University (B.S., Psychology), Palmer Theological Seminary (Master of Theological Studies) and Eastern University (Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy). Outside of Executive Director duties at Redemption Housing, Dr. Lo serves as Lecturer of Psychology at Eastern University, Assistant and Mamher of Practical Theology at Meachum School of Haymanot (pronounced High-mah-note). An avid researcher and all-around social justice advocate, she has been a catalyst for fostering spiritual resilience and has authored many publications, including her own book, "Walking Worthy of My Calling: Journey Back to the Likeness of God" and most recently "Sawubona (I/We See You): Confronting the Disenfranchised Grief of Justice-Involved Persons." Featured in Evan Auguste's work The Carceral State, Forensic Psychology, and Black Resistance. Dr. Lo resides in West Philly with her husband, young son and daughter, serves as Associate Elder at Gates of Heaven Church. She endeavors to build atmosphere-changers and restore sacred space within and beyond church, school and prison walls.

Our goal for this event is to pack 500 prison care kits. We invite you and your community to bring kit items to the event. You can also drop off completed kits at an MCC kit drop-off location

If you are unable to collect kit items, we welcome cash donations after the event and throughout the year so that MCC can purchase supplies for prison care kits. To donate cash, check the bottom of the page.
