MCC Material Resources Kidron Building Project
Sharing hope and relief
For more than 21 years, supporters like you have generously given material resources to the Ohio MCC Activity Center (OMAC) in Kidron, Ohio, to support the work of MCC. These material resources are an important connection for people to put their faith into action.
The kits and comforters provide relief and a tangible sign of hope to people in need around the world. And the acts of putting together kits and knotting comforters are a hands-on way for people of all ages to get involved.
With conflicts and disasters around the world, the need for material resources and requests from our partners continue to increase. We are grateful to live in a community that takes seriously the call to support those in need. However, the current shared space with MCC Connections is limiting our capacity to help meet those needs.
In response to these needs, we are planning for a new material resources building that will allow us to better respond to these needs by increasing efficiency, increasing volume and increasing engagement in our community.
Details about the building
The 11,000 square foot building will allow our community to increase the number of kits and comforters we currently collect. It will enable us to process all six of MCC’s kits, along with comforters. The new building will also increase opportunities for youth groups, families, Sunday School classes, companies, school groups and others to take part in hands-on service.
The building plans include a work room, warehouse, administrative space and loading dock. Energy conservation measures and a solar panel array will save thousands of dollars over the life of the building and help us care for God’s creation.
Following MCC’s preferred practices, the new building will not be owned directly by MCC, but rather by OMAC. MCC Connections Thrift Shop is also owned by OMAC.

The total estimated cost of the building project is $2.5 million. This consists of $2.1 million for the building itself (including a built-in contingency), $200,000 for solar panels and $200,000 for equipment and materials, including a forklift.
The 11,000 square foot building will consist of 4,200 square feet of warehouse, 4,200 square feet for a workroom and 2,600 square feet of administrative space.
We hope to break ground for this building in spring of 2024. We need to raise the funds for the project first, so the sooner we are able to get funding commitments the sooner we can begin.
We will be able to process all six of the kits that MCC collects, in addition to comforters.
- Dignity kits: Feminine hygiene reusable kit system that helps keep girls in school
- Hygiene kits: Basic hygiene supplies for one person in a cloth bag that help people stay healthy
- Infant care kits: Clothes, blanket and other items for a 3-12 month old child to help give them a good start
- Relief kits: Basic hygiene supplies for a family of four in a 5-gallon bucket that help families whose lives have been disrupted
- School kits: Notebooks, pencils, pens, ruler and other items that children need to attend school
- Sewing kits: Thread, needles, pins and other basic sewing items that will allow someone to learn to sew
- Comforters: Handmade blanket that provides warmth to those in need
