West Coast MCC announces Nathan Yoder’s resignation as Executive Director of West Coast MCC. After five years serving within the West Coast region, he will depart at the end of August to work with Mennonite Brethren Foundation in Fresno, CA.
Yoder is an innovative leader who has strengthened MCC’s West Coast region. During his tenure, he worked closely with the supporting denominations of West Coast MCC and with associations of partner nonprofit organizations throughout the last five years. He led the expansion of Restorative Justice and Immigration programs, particularly in Arizona. He coordinated the creation of Thrift on Blackstone, an MCC thrift shop in Fresno, California. And he facilitated MCC’s Centennial celebrations, including providing key leadership in the New Hope in the Name of Christ campaign with remarkable success.
Yoder lives in Fresno, California, and is a member of North Fresno MB Church.
The West Coast MCC Board of Directors asked Alan Claassen Thrush, Donor Relations Director and Krystal Klaassen, Communications & HR Coordinator to serve as Co Executive Interim Directors during the transition time. Claassen Thrush will focus on MCC U.S. administrative tasks and financial development for the region. Klaassen will give leadership to the West Coast MCC staff team in the Reedley office and offer regional program support.

West Coast MCC works in partnership with local churches and organizations in 11 states across the Western US in the areas of relief, development and peacebuilding. In addition to supporting MCC’s international work, the West Coast region offers support programs to immigrant communities. It also partners with education and law enforcement leaders in Reedley, CA, and Phoenix, AZ, to offer restorative interventions that steer youth away from the criminal justice system and toward healthy participation in their communities.
The Board has named a committee to lead the search for the next leader of West Coast MCC. During this transition, we invite your continued support and prayers as we serve the vulnerable in our region and around the world in the name of Christ. We thank Nate for his dedication and service within the West Coast region and wish him success in his new role.
