A man walks past a tree uprooted by strong winds brought by super Typhoon Haiyan that hit Cebu city, central Philippines November 8, 2013. Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon in the world this year and possibly the most powerful ever to hit land battered the central Philippines on Friday, forcing millions of people to flee to safer ground, cutting power lines and blowing apart houses.

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) will be responding in the Philippines through a partnership with like-minded agency Church World Service (CWS). MCC will provide CWS with an initial $30,000 to respond with urgent food and non-food items. To begin, this assistance is focusing on Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Island (both in Mindanao), Bohol and Samar (both in Visayas). This is where our partners have access to be able to help.
