MCC alumni gathered at the Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale in Hutchinson for coffee and a time of fellowship. Three alumni who served in Bolivia and who attended the gathering were, from left, Ray Reimer (served 1976-78), Archie Schmidt (1968-70) and Jeanne Strausz (1970-74).

Sometimes you just need to relive the old stories with people who have been there. Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) alumni who plan and coordinate a reunion provide an avenue for people to meet.

Already, MCC alumni who served in some regions of the world have regular reunions, and MCC encourages alumni who haven’t been connected to consider doing the same.

The centennial year of 2020 could be a good time to connect with other people who served in the same country or same area of the world.

To encourage planners, MCC offers a reduced rate for MCC alumni reunions in 2020 at MCC’s Welcoming Place and guest houses in Akron, Pennsylvania. The Welcoming Place has large and small meeting rooms, and the guest houses have individual rooms and baths that surround a central social space.

MCC also can assist planners with contact information of alumni who have given permission to share that information. In addition, MCC can suggest MCC speakers and provide reports on current MCC work.

Meanwhile, planning is underway to mark the centennial in other ways. Looking back, visiting the present and anticipating God’s leading in the future all will be part of the mix. It is hoped that long-time MCC supporters and those just becoming familiar with MCC will find meaningful ways to connect with these plans.
