MCC Pax participant Lowell Bender screens gravel for the construction of a home in Salzburg, Austria, in 1961, for refugees from what was then Yugoslavia. MCC developed Pax to help rebuild post-World War II Europe and serve as a voluntary service option for conscientious objectors to war.

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) continues to encourage alumni to plan and hold reunions in 2020 at its Welcoming Place and guest houses in Akron, Pennsylvania.

Seven such reunions are already confirmed. Send a message to alumni@mcc.org indicating the reunion you wish to attend; your information will be shared with planners.

  • Akron Service Unit 1986-1996 – May 22-26
  • South Korea – June 19-21
  • Ethiopia – Aug. 21-23
  • Akron Service Unit 1976-1986 – Sept. 4-7
  • Salzburg Pax reunion – Sept. 24-27
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo – Oct. 2-4
  • Burkina Faso – Oct. 9-12

The Welcoming Place in Akron has large and small meeting rooms, and the guest houses have individual rooms and baths that surround a central social space. Rates are reduced for reunions held in Akron in 2020.

MCC can assist planners with contact information of alumni who have given permission to share that information. MCC can suggest speakers and provide reports on current MCC work.

For more information about planning a reunion, including rates, contact alumni@mcc.org, or call 888-563-4676.

In addition, watch mcc.org and Facebook for information on other plans to mark the centennial.
