In the image of God He created them…
People often attempt to strengthen internal unity of their group, nation or religion by demonizing those on the outside. “We are noble, good and upright, while they are evil doers, despicable, and terrorists.” The photographs in this exhibit are of people from nations, ethnic groups, or religions who are little known and often misunderstood, particularly by people of the West. The photos are portraits of real people, close enough to recognize that we are related, each created in the image of God, all part of God’s wonderful and diverse family.
Doug Hostetter (Right), photographer, has worked in peacebuilding in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Middle East and the United States. He is currently the Director of the Mennonite Central Committee United Nations Office in the Church Center for the United Nations. The exhibit was curated by Heng Gil Han (Left).
This photo gallery now hangs on the walls of the 10th floor of the Church Center at the United Nations building, where the MCC UN Office is located.
