A diverse group of volunteers collaborated in a "solar barn raising" in 2018 to install solar panels on the roof of the MCC East Coast Material Resources Center (MRC) in Ephrata, Pa. which will provide 85% of the electricity needed to run the MRC annually.

MCC is committed to caring for God’s creation and accompanying marginalized communities harmed by climate change. Climate change disproportionately affects already-vulnerable communities, and we are called to stand with those communities and address the issue of climate change. MCC cares about this work because we envision communities worldwide in right relationship with God, one another, and creation.
In light of this commitment, MCC Great Lakes is launching a new initiative, called Churches Engaging on Climate Change (CECC), which offers opportunities for churches to get involved in combatting climate change. Through this initiative, churches will have an opportunity to engage in educational activities and address climate change in their own communities.

Resources offered through the CECC initiative:
- Assistance organizing a Green Team and connection with a Green Team Coach through MCC partner Faith in Place or another Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) chapter.
- Access to seed grants offered by MCC for select congregations with active Green Teams that have demonstrated a clear mission and plan to combat climate change.
- Opportunities to learn more about climate advocacy action at the federal level with MCC U.S. National Peace and Justice Ministries and at the state level with your local IPL chapter.
- Support utilizing educational resources provided by the Center for Sustainable Climate Solutions.
- Connections with faith partners working to advance climate justice work.
