With understanding and compassion, churches can become healing, supporting communities for both those who are imprisoned and those who are reentering society. Join Peace and Justice Project and Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) for a half-day seminar that will introduce churches and individuals to incarceration in the United States through an interactive exercise and hearing firsthand from a panel of formerly incarcerated people. The goal of this seminar is to motivate congregations, church leaders and individuals to engage in the lives of people who are caught in the criminal justice system, helping them break free and experience hope and transformation in their lives.

After registration and coffee from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m., participants will experience "You Got Booked," a powerful interactive exercise which unmasks the scope of mass incarceration in the United States and how that system negatively affects some groups of people more than others. During the panel discussion to follow, you'll hear stories of transformation from formerly incarcerated people, most of whom now work in reentry agencies.

A suggested donation of $15 per person will be collected in cash or check at the event.
