Calling all young adults (ages 18-22) from Anabaptist congregations interested in learning about a Biblical approach to peace and justice that can be applied in their everyday lives. 

Join us for a week-long Peace Camp at Amigo Centre as we explore the theme of “Responding to Violence.” Hands-on learning topics will focus on conflict transformation skills, mass incarceration, bystander training, gun violence and restorative justice, including a trip to Chicago with MCC partners working with gun violence prevention.

The base participant fee is $300. Additional contributions will support participants who are unable to pay the full fee. Scholarships are also available on a case-by-case basis.

Tentative Schedule Outline

Camp will begin on Sunday evening with dinner, group activities and campfire worship. Each day we will focus on a different aspect of responding to violence as we follow the words of the prophet Micah.  Every evening will end with a short debriefing session and campfire worship. The focus areas and rough schedule throughout the week are as follows:

Sunday - Micah 4:1
In the days to come the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised up above the hills.

- Arrival (5pm)
- Get to know one another
- Worship

Monday - Micah 4:2
Peoples shall stream to it, and many nations shall come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”  For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
- Structural Violence vs. Nonviolence, a Biblical understanding.
- Conflict transformation & healthy dialogue
- Debrief and worship

Tuesday - Micah 4:3a
He shall judge between many peoples, and shall arbitrate between strong nations far away; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks;
- Travel to Chicago
- Meet with grassroots organizations working in Chicago
- Gun Violence Prevention
- Debrief and Worship
- Overnight in Chicago

Wednesday - Micah 4:3b
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more;
- Nonviolence training
- Return to Camp
- Debrief and Worship

Thursday - Micah 4:4
But they shall all sit under their own vines and under their own fig trees, and no one shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.
- Building community with one another
- Free time
- Debrief and Worship

Friday  Micah 4:5
For all the peoples walk, each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.
- Travel to Goshen, MCC Great Lakes office
- Closing
