Share love and warmth around the world this winter!
The annual MCC Comforter Blitz is a virtual event this year!
There are still many requests from around the world for comforters, and the Kansas Friends of MCC committee is challenging/inviting Kansas congregations and individuals to complete 300+ comforters between January and March. Comforters will be counted when they are finished and returned to MCC in North Newton.
Three ways to get involved
Comforters may be created with your own supplies, following the MCC guidelines. Fabric sandwiches of tops, batting and backing to be knotted may be picked up at the MCC 24-hour donation drop-off room. Monetary donations for the comforter project are welcome to help cover the cost of fabric and batting. A suggested donation of $10 per comforter can be given by cash or check made out to "Kansas Friends of MCC" and sent to MCC.
Items that can be donated to MCC include:
- good cotton fabric to cut into blocks or backs
- completed tops
- completed comforters
- cash donations for supplies
All comforters should be left in the 24-hour donation room at MCC in North Newton. If you need assistance unloading your comforters, please make arrangements with Kate Mast, MCC Central States Workroom Supervisor, as the MCC offices and Material Resources Center continue to be closed to the public due to COVID-19.
