Support the American Dream and Promise Act

  Take Action

Urge your representative to pass the American Dream and Promise Act.

Background: As early as Tuesday, June 4, the House will vote on legislation to protect Dreamers and individuals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS). While only one step in addressing unjust immigration laws, it is an important step. The American Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6) would provide a path to citizenship for more than two million individuals who were brought to the U.S. as children or who were not able to return to their home countries due to violent conflict or natural disasters.

Though the bill would provide protections for many, there are concerns about provisions to exclude immigrants with criminal convictions, particularly for youth accused of gang involvement. Encourage your representative to vote against any amendments that would further undermine principles of fairness and restorative justice or otherwise restrict those eligible for protections under this bill.

Faith reflection: Don't mistreat any foreigners who live in your land. Instead, treat them as well as you treat citizens and love them as much as you love yourself. Remember, you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God. (Leviticus 19:33-34, CEV)

Action: Urge your representative to pass the American Dream and Promise Act.
