Zambia: Glimpse into life of MCC service worker family

Jan Emswiler is serving with MCC in Zambia, along with her spouse, Kajungu Mturi, and their children, Luga (7) and Wakuru-Mae (22 months). They are from Goshen, Ind., where they attend Assembly Mennonite Church.

We have been living with our family in Zambia and serving with MCC for about a year and half. We’re developing good connections with partners and settling into family life.

SALT: Emergency Response Assistant : August 19, 2015

The SALTer as the Emergency Response Assistant will provide support to the humanitarian aid and peacebuilding projects that MCC is undertaking as a result of the current crisis in Syria.  Based in Beirut, the worker will assist the MCC Representative with program planning, reporting, and development of communications pieces for MCC projects in Syria and Lebanon.

JOS, Nigeria — Rhoda Markos, her husband and three children lived in a rural village near Jos, Nigeria, working as subsistence farmers – eating what they grew and selling what they could to generate a minimal income. Like 60 percent of Nigerians in 2011, her family survived on less than $1 a day.
