Country Music Highway
Directions to Elkhorn
If you can get to the West Virginia Border,
we'll get you the rest of the way with these detailed directions:
I-77 South toward Princeton, WV from Princeton Exit (Rte 460)
- Go west on Rte 460 toward Princeton and Bluefield, WV
- NOTE: Be sure to follow posted speeds in West Virginia, especially through the towns along Rte 52 - they do ticket offenders without mercy!
- Continue several miles and look for Rte 123 (Intersects with Rt 460 at traffic light near the old Lowe's building on left.
- Turn right onto Rte 123, then Turn left at the first stop sign (approximately 100 feet).
- Follow this road for 1 to 2 miles and watch for Rte 123 sign for a right turn
(shortly after Grant's grocery store on left).
- Turn right and continue on Rte 123 for approximately 6 miles till you come to Rte 52.
- Turn right onto Rte 52 (North).
- Follow Rte 52 North for approximately 13 - 14 miles, going through a small town called Maybeury.
- FYI - You will not have any cell phone signal after you pass Pinnacle Rock State Park.
- After Maybuery, go a couple of miles looking for a small green rectangular sign for
"ELKHORN UNINCORPORATED."
- From Elkhorn Sign, go about 3 tenths of a mile (there are several signs along Rte 52; one for
Elkhorn Station Road, a large white sign for MCC/SWAP, and a wooden sign for Elkhorn
Park) and make a right turn onto Elkhorn Station Road near the bottom of the hill
(slow down, very sharp turn).
- On Elkhorn Station Road, go to the bottom of the hill, cross the small bridge over the
creek and bearing left, cross two railroad tracks, staying perpendicular to the tracks
(slightly angle to the left), proceed down around the curve to the right and up the hill to the last house,
which is a big white house with red foundation.
- Park in the front on the stone parking lot, and enter the by the main entrance stairs.

Rte 460 East toward Bluefield, VA
- After entering the State of West Virginia (just after shopping center with Lowes, Sam's Club, Bob Evans, etc.) continue east to the Maryland Ave. Exit where you will Turn left.
- NOTE: Be sure to follow posted speeds in West Virginia, especially through the towns along Rte 52 - they do ticket offenders without mercy!
- Stay on Maryland Ave, which quickly turns left and then Right at a stop sign where the right turn keeps moving, and continue on Maryland Ave (actually changes to Cherry Street), traveling through several traffic lights, passing the Bluefield Regional Medical Center, and then coming to a traffic light at the bottom of a short steep hill just before a bridge by the Bluefield State College. This is where Rte 52 joins and heads North toward McDowell County.
- Proceed straight through the traffic light, crossing bridge, and continue on Rte 52 North.
- After coming to the Rte 123 intersection follow the directions above from number 8 through 12.
- Follow Rt 52 North for approximately 13 - 14 miles, going through a small town called Maybeury.
