SALT

Serving and Learning Together- SALT

Is a unique year long cross-cultural immersion experience for Christian young adults from the United States and Canada. Service assignments are available in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America/Caribbean and the Middle East.

Participants need to be single, 18 to 27 years old, U.S. or Canadian citizens, actively participating in the life of a Christian church and committed to non-violent peacemaking. It is expected that participants fund-raise a defined contribution minimum that is reviewed annually and posted on the SALT web page each January. For the 2009/10 service term the SALT contribution minimum for participants is $4300 U.S./$4600 Canadian.

The program seeks to further:

  • International goodwill and understanding through experiencing life outside of one’s cultural, economic and social milieu
  • International reconciliation and peace-building by encouraging participants to act as bridge-builders between their home and host communities
  • Personal commitment to the world-wide church via participation and sharing in the life of Christian communities around the world
  • Participants’ spiritual, personal and professional growth
