Dear Premier McGuinty, I support the Government of Ontario's commitment to develop a comprehensive poverty reduction strategy for the province. I urge you to focus on structural solutions for poverty which aim to reduce poverty in Ontario by 25% by 2012 and by 50% by 2017. The strategy needs to achieve:
As many people and communities across Ontario struggle with job loss and a slowing economy, it is even more urgent for the Provincial Government to introduce a strong poverty reduction plan. As a supporter of Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, I encourage you to read MCCO's submission, Toward a Poverty Free Ontario: at www.mcc.org/ontario.
