Libraries
The Bolivia Library Program seeks to improve the educational level of students in poor areas. Nearly 70% of the rural population is illiterate; in urban areas, illiteracy is at approximately 40%. Many students attend school for a short time, but eventually drop out. The libraries provide activities which motivate students to read and thereby improve their literacy skills, which improves their chances of remaining in school. The presence of the library creates an educational and cultural space for the use and benefit of the entire community. Global Family funds assure their operation. |
