One of the children living at LEISWAD. LebanonLEISWADThe Lebanese Evangelical Society (LES) operates LEISWAD, a special ministry to “stateless” children living in the streets of Lebanon’s cities. Many are Palestinian refugees, who are not afforded the same rights as Lebanese citizens. Rather than picking them up and “interrogating” them (which often involves abuse), police take them to LEISWAD, which accepts them and provides a medical exam and temporary housing. LEISWAD has hosted children from the age of one day up to eighteen years. Global Family helps pay staff who provide loving care and ensure the children receive education. *2008-09 fully sponsored. |
