MCC's Global Family education sponsorship program supports a school on the grounds of St. Raphael's Orphanage, Baromari, in eastern Bangladesh, which serves girls, most from the Garo, Koch and Hajong ethnic groups.

The SALT/YAMENer will work at a private elementary school teaching either music/art/drama or sports. S/he will also instruct students in the technical aspects of music or sport, conduct rehearsals/regular sport trainings, and evaluate student performance.

On the Remembrance Day of the Lebanese Civil war young Lebanese bikers were riding their bikes from Tyr to Beirut (21-April 2012) and from Beirut to Tripoli (22-April 2012) an overall trail of (193 km) To say NO to Civil War and to promote for Civil Peace - Bikers were collecting signatures on the Lebanese Flag as a sign of commitment in civil peace.

The MCC worker will volunteer with Zimele providing assistance and guidance in organizational development, program development and implementation of their Orphaned and Vulnerable Child Care, and Life Skills programs.

Scenery in the village of Hrustovo where Serbs attacked in the 90's.  Vahidin Omanovic and his family returned to the village and live their now.  Many people fled abroad during the war and are building new homes in the village with plans to one day return.

Santa Cruz, Bolivia

SALT/YAMENer will be seconded to MCC Bolivia's Low German Mennonite program, working with Colony Mennonites who visit the small book store and library at the Centro Menno Drop-in Center.

In the village of Mayana near the town of Maghagha, MCC supports literacy education through partner organization BLESS.

SALT/YAMEN!: Manuscript Editor – The Gioi

Hanoi, Vietnam

This SALT/YAMENer will work at The Gioi (World) Publishing House doing final editing and polishing of first draft English translations done by others.  They will work in the English department with 10-12 multinational colleagues under the direction of the Vietnamese editor.

IN THIS PHOTO:  AIDS patient Joyce Nansubuga and her five year old son.  Just weeks before Nansubuga had TB and severe malaria.  She lost her husband in 2000 and learned she was HIV positive when she was pregnant with her son.  She does cleaning, trading and has support from friends in order to provide for her family.

SALT/YAMEN!: Nurse – VAVA Rehab Center

Hanoi, Vietnam

The SALT/YAMENer will work as a nurse at the VAVA Rehab Center in Hanoi which serves persons living with the affects of Agent Orange.  The participant will work under the direction of a Vietnamese doctor.

In Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, MCC sponsors a network of school peace clubs that enable students to share their problems, resolve conflicts and help others to do the same.
