Helping feed others with meatFrom Jan. 16 to 26 hundreds of volunteers canned 80,000 pounds of skinless, boneless turkey thighs. That’s 40 tons – two semi-loads full, totaling approximately 43,000 cans of meat that MCC will use in relief work around the world. 
MCC provides canned meat for tree-planting in BurundiSubsistence farmers are planting hundreds of thousands of trees in the African country of Burundi through a project supported by MCC. 
Another record-setting MCC meat canning seasonMCC's 2005-2006 meat canning season yielded a record 566,322 cans of meat. This year, the canner visited 13 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. 
A day at the meat cannerLast year volunteers in the U.S. and Canada helped fill more than 534,000 cans of turkey, beef and pork for hungry people throughout the world. 
A canned food drive with a twist
