Canning in Ontario.

Canning in Ontario. Even our First Aid volunteers can't help getting involved in the fun.

Work as a Canner Operator

Work as a full time canner operator, travelling and working with many different church groups.

Find a place to Volunteer

Call your nearest MCC office and offer your help. There is work for all ages although ideally suited for high school age and older.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • debone meat (20)
  • stir the meat (vigorously!) (2)
  • pack meat in cans (7)
  • wash and label cans (8-12)
  • general help (5)

Donate livestock

Donated livestock is appreciated. Call the nearest canning contact to discuss options. Many committees make it possible to donate to the nearest meat slaughter plant year around. Credit then is given to the canning operation.

Donate money

Funds are welcome to cover the costs of this operation.

  • $2.50 covers the expense to can one can of meat (28 oz./794 grams).
  • $60.00 will cover cost for one complete carton of meat (24 cans).
  • $0.25 is the average cost of shipping a can of meat to a hungry family.
  • $6.00 is the cost to ship one carton of meat.
