AboutVictims' Voice In 1996 MCC Canada began Victims' Voice. Much of the work in 1997 was an exploration of potential programs through meetings with service providers and MCC provincial directors about victim concerns and needs. In 1998 an advisory committee was formed, the first issue of Pathways was published, and the Connections program for survivors of homicide began. The two-year review of Victims' Voice affirmed the program and extended the contract for another two years. In 1999 a training program and manual about understanding victims of crime was piloted, victims and lifers in prison were brought together to meet and series of dialogues were held to explore victim restorative justice. In 2000 the first issue of Thresholds is published to explore victim-centered justice. A mini-symposium about understanding victims of crime is held in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Victims' Voice plays a part in the establishment of Manitoba Organization of Victim Advocates (MOVA). |
