Network of Adult Survivors
The Network of Adult Survivors provides regular mailings (every 3 to
4 months, or as significant numbers of new names are added to the network
list) as a way to exchange information, resources and ideas, for example:
-
Support
Each mailing includes an updated network mailing list. You may contact any member of the network for sharing and mutual support. A number of members of the network have additionally expressed willingness to:
-
Write letters, meet with (where possible), or share by phone with any members needing special support at any given time
-
Give information/support for those pursuing criminal charges
-
Give information/support for those confronting church hierarchy
-
Provide spiritual/emotional information and support
To be placed in touch with those offering such support, please contact the Network Coordinator.
-
Resources
Members are encouraged to share their favorite resources (books, articles, music, etc.) on abuse. These are shared in the regular mailings to members. We would prefer that resource recommendations are "personalized" — when you send a resource recommendation, please write a 2-3 sentence comment on why/how this resource has been helpful to you, and why you recommend it. Generally we will list your name with your resource recommendations. These can also be shared anonymously, at your request.
-
Events Information
Members are invited to send information about meetings, seminars, workshops, and conferences on family violence, sexual abuse and related topics. We urge members to send information about either upcoming events or recent past events, about national or local events (someone in one community who participated in a past local event, may be a good resource for someone in another community who is considering something similar). In addition to "meetings," you are welcome to share events in your area such as court cases, or cases being taken to the church hierarchy.
-
Counselling information
Currently the network does not have a list of support groups or therapists, but several members have indicated willingness to share information on groups, counsellors or pastors they have found helpful, if desired. Request such contacts from the Network Coordinator.
